AWS AMI image for Edge Server

Hi guys,

there are an ami or other edge's image available for virtual environments like AWS or Google Cloud ?

Hi Vinicius,

We offer edge deployments in three ways:

  1. A physical edge appliance purchased through Genesys.
  2. An AWS edge managed by Genesys (via our Genesys Cloud Voice offerings). We do not currently support
    customer-managed AWS AMIs.
  3. A VMWare based edge instance that can be run in your data center on your own dedicated Hyper-V host.

I am going to forward your question to the product manager on the Edge team also, as I know we have a couple of other types of edge offerings in the works.

Hello @Juvinski,

John is correct--- we do not offer an AMI for Edge. In our cloud media stack we have split out the 'Edge' functionality into several multi-tenanted microservices dedicated to various functions. We no longer have an AWS based Edge handling the responsibilities cloud Edge used to handle.

The three deployment types available today are:

  1. Cloud media - This is the autoscaling multi-tenanted stack powering Genesys Cloud Voice and BYOC Cloud.
  2. Premises hardware Edge appliances - Purchase from Genesys, implement in your own datacenter.
  3. Premises Virtual Appliance image - Downloadable Hyper-V image which requires a dedicated host. John mentioned VMWare in his reply but should have said Hyper-V. VMWare is not a supported Hypervisor for our premises virtual appliance image.

We are also working on a project called "Recipe", in which we publish a globally available server quote customers can use to source the proper hardware in-country and Genesys will provide a software installer to convert it into a hardware Edge. This is not a virtual solution as it runs on the bare metal server, but it does get around the need to ship hardware internationally.

Last, we are always working on expanding our cloud media services. You will continue to see more regions spin up, and our Global Media Fabric initiate is working towards allowing Orgs to leverage media services in all of our regions, not just the Org's home region.
