Does anyone know if it's possible to perform AWS regional failover with Genesys Cloud. Obviously, you could build out another Org in a different region and redirect your voice traffic but that would mean having another set of DDIs and having to remap the flows to different numbers, web messaging widgets would have to be updated on your website as well. The other complication is keeping the two Orgs in sync with changes, and you would also then have two data repositories, which wouldn't be ideal either. Just wanted to ask what regional failover mechanisms others may have considered or have implemented.
Hi Lee, while I haven't looked into it, Genesys provides a BCP/DR service which essentially does what you're referring to here. From memory it also includes "sync" options. Have a talk to your Genesys rep. Now failing that you could probably take care of some of this with scripted CX as Code/Terraform stuff to do a regular export/import for a number of configuration items.
Depending on your carrier/toll free provider, you could have routing plans on standby to direct calls from your x800 numbers over to the "alternate" org. How those plans are activated will depend on your carriers capabilities but may include an automatic failover if the "primary" DDI doesn't answer.
Hi Vaun, thank you - we've reached out directly to our Genesys Acc Mgr.
Thanks,
Lee
