I am a little bit confused with the "chat" terminology... Which are the API methods that regard the chats between agents? I mean the Communicate chat, not the chats with customers.

There is a new internal chat API currently in Beta (not released yet).
You may want to have a look at the Genesys Cloud Beta Community forum and join the Collaborate Chat API Public Preview.
