Custom substitution canned responses

Hi there
My client is trying to have the survey link embedded on an image using canned responses.
So far if i use any other substitution on the image i do get the default substitutions without any issue. but if i want to use the custom substitution of the survey link does not work.
Is there any way to make this work or it's not possible?
