Disable the "text box" in chat window

Hello,

We have been using widget 1.0 for chat as only widget 1.0 supports co-browse. Now as soon as a customer initiates a chat, and been waiting for an agent to answer the chat, he / she can still post their query in the "text box" of the chat window / widget.
Is there any way we can disable the "text box" in the chat window / widget until an agent joins the conversation?
In other words we are looking for a way to restrict customers to type their queries until an agent join the conversation.

It sounds similar to the post from a couple of weeks back: Webchat v2 - Prevent customer to start writing before agent connected

In short, we don't support that scenario as it's not a good customer experience but you have other means to let the customer know what is happening.

Please note that in my case we're using the v2 widget.

Thank you for your suggestion, though we have been using v1.0, not sure if it will work, still will give it a try.
