Geolocation method?

Hi all, what method does the Journey SDK use to gather geolocation for the website user? IP or browser provided? If IP, can we turn that off?

Hi @VaunMcCarthy it is based on public IP Address. Any specific concern with this?
In general, public IP Address is among the attributes we capture as part of the Journey Session object, which you can access from within Architect Flow.
We assume that if a business enables Journey Tracking, they are OK to capture this information.

At least one of our clients is a government agency and privacy discussions get quite granular. Other than within Architect, where else is that ipAddress exposed?

Hi, as was said above, the IP address is part of the information tracked about a users session. The geolocation is displayed to Agents in the Journey Visualisation gadget, but the IP address is not displayed on those screens. It can be accessed through some of our APIs, like the ones that fetch sessions or events by session. These APIs are used to generate the visualisation gadget.
Currently we have no feature to disable IP address in journey tracking.
