New Developer Forum is Coming!

Description

This dev forum will be joining forces with the Genesys Cloud Community Forum!

The new communities will be opened for early access in early March; we'll post an update here with links to the new communities as soon as they're available.

Change Context

In an effort to consolidate efforts across Genesys, we're moving the dev forum to be a community within the Community Forums. This will allow Genesys Cloud developers to go to a single site to be able to find and ask questions about both product and developer topics.

To use the community forums, you'll need a Genesys Access Pass (Okta SSO account). If you are a customer or partner that currently interacts with Care or you can already sign in to the community forum, you're all set! If you're person that's neither a customer nor partner, or if you are and don't currently have a Genesys Access Pass, visit this page to request an account: Sign Up and Sign In - Genesys. Don't delay, sign up today!

Change Impact

This forum's content will be migrated the week prior to the cutover to retain the rich history we've created together on this forum over the last 8 years. While the content will be migrated, there is no mapping of users between the two sites so all posts will be attributed to the developer community at large.

After the cutover date, this forum will be placed into read-only mode. It will remain visible for at least a month before being removed completely. All new posts will need to be created on the community forums after the cutover date.

Breaking change announcements will be migrated to the new forum as well. You will need to make your subscriptions to the new forum's announcements category to be notified of those changes. Additional information on how to subscribe to announcements will be posted when we post the link to the new communities.

Personally love this. Having one place to go rather than 2.

However just wondering how the different categories will be handled. Here we have those different areas depending on what we are asking about, integrations vs data actions vs announcements etc all have their own homes here. How will this work over at the community forum which doesn't at least at the moment have these sub categories/communities.

Agree with Anton's query and sentiment here. Being able to somewhat navigate through the dev forum categories is very useful.

@Anton_Vroon the community forum's grouping works primarily based on tagging. So you will create all posts in the developer community then tag them with the relevant tags like integrations, data actions, java sdk, etc. You can filter posts in the community using tags like this: Search - Genesys.

Ah that makes sense, thanks Tim.

Can I maybe recommend a pinned post in the community, with some of those search links predefined for people, just to make it easy to go to the DataAction posts etc?

The statement suggests that only customers or partners with a Genesys Access Pass can access the community forums. However, I can access the Genesys Developer Forum using my personal email account without a Genesys Access Pass or a Genesys account. This creates confusion, as it implies that access is restricted when, in reality, some forums are open to users without these credentials. It would be helpful to clarify this distinction.
In my case I am a developer, not a Genesys customer or partner, and I do not have a Genesys Access Pass (Okta SSO account)

@Dileepkaranki please take note of this part:

If you're a person that's neither a customer nor partner, or if you are and don't currently have a Genesys Access Pass, visit this page to request an account: Sign Up and Sign In - Genesys .

Hey Anton!

Like Tim said, the community has both Topic Tags (required before making a post) and HashTags, so I hope navigating content is pretty similar.

Additionally if a topic ever gets popular enough to justify it, we can open additional communities. Tim and I will be working together to make sure the community provides a great UI for the Dev Members joining.

Cheers!

Matt

Hey Vaun!

Hope all is well. You can see my reply above to Anton, but you know how to reach me. Let me know if you have any suggestions once the new Dev Community is available. We will have tagging and hash tags, but maybe we can do more to increase awareness that those options exist? Always happy to hear feedback.

Looking forward to opening the new community in March!

Cheers,

Matt

Dev Community now open! If you have registered for the community site, you can now join and start posting before the migration on March 24th.

Will legacy content from this platform be migrated to the new platform?

EDIT: Never mind, the post contains that, I just didn't want to read a wall of text.

"New Users" option with a gmail account throw this error. Does this mean personal account cannot be used??

Try emailing CustomerCare@Genesys.com to register. If you have any issues, let me know. Cheers!
