Schedule callback widget implementation

Hello!

I am working on schedule callback via web messaging. In my research I learned about SheduleCallback widget. I am looking for guidance on how to implement schedule callback widget on a webchat.
Can I create an API with the widget code and call the API where it is necessary from different applications or do I have to write the function directly in each application?

I also learned from this form that the widget does not work out side Genesys! Is the schedule callback widget right approach for requesting callback from a web chat and agent will receive callback task on Genesys or do I have to use callback API and create customized UI?
