Support for the desktop app goign away

Now that Genesys is doing screen recordings on the web version, I see no need to support the desktop app and have heard that it will most likely not be supported at some point in the future. Is there a reason to still use the desktop version ad I fond it is a bit slower and uses more resources than the web version. Its also a heavy lift to test and redeploy when we have many agents and utilizing VDI and desktops.

Has anyone else heard that this will be discounted at some point. Seems logical not to support 2 version of the Ui that do the same thing.
