Trying to set up Genesys for Salesforce external routing

I am having issues with the integration of externally routed chat items to Salesforce. We have calls and emails working in the salesforce front end, but are running into issues on the Chat piece.

I have gone through all the steps, and am hitting a wall at the open messaging piece. The documentation around this piece is not very clear.

Do we need to create webhooks in Salesforce?

Some Genesys documentation states that "Genesys Cloud currently supports Facebook Messenger, Instagram Direct Messaging, Twitter Direct Messaging, LINE Messaging, and WhatsApp."

Other pages say Salesforce is supported, but with very little to go on.

I have tested running the agentless Outbound messages from developer API:

POST /api/v2/conversations/messages/agentless

and get the following error:
"The request failed with response code: 400. Message: This request requires a non-user context. User token cannot be used for requests to this resource."

try to test run the SF flow from flow builder, but get this:

Error element Route_to_Genesys (FlowActionCall).
Missing required input parameter: recordId

Any help is appreciated.
