Variables not behaving (outbound)

I have a problem that I cannot for the life of me figure out;

I have a script that I am trying to embed:

Hello {{Outbound.FIRST_NAME}}

In a text area. FIRST_NAME is the column header on the outbound list. The list hasn't been changed. When the script runs it displays {{dialer.FIRST_NAME}} instead of pulling from the record.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening. I have two scripts that are very similar that work fine, and two that do not. All are built the same way.

This may have been related to a user permission setting...

Confirmed: User was lacking outbound agent permissions.
