Web Chat v2 timeout toaster never goes away

When a chat times out on my website and a user navigates to a new page, they get this prompt:

No matter whether the user selects "Start Chat" or "No thanks", they will continue to see this pop-up on every subsequent page they visit in my application. This only clears up after manually clearing the _genesys.widgets.webchat cookies from the browser.

I'm not sure what the conditions are for a timeout, but it does happen occasionally and creates a major annoyance for my customers.
