Why destination address shows up in DNIS for an outbound call?

Hi, I am having really hard time understanding why when I place a call from our call center to an outbound number, the destination number is shown in the DNIS field.

Is there some more obvious field like DestinationAddress and OriginationAddress that would have the caller and callee number?

Well, that's literally what a DNIS is... the Dialed Number Indicator [Service]
Everybody has a DNIS from somebody else's perspective, so those get populated accordingly depending on participant purpose.

This is one of those DUH moments... For the last 20 years I would always see DNIS as something as part of our incoming phone number and ANI the party on another side. Tunnel vision at its best! Makes perfect sense....
